Profile: Howrah Community Centre

Tell us about the Howrah Community Centre. What do you do?

The Howrah Community is a recreation sports and activities centre which hosts a range of activities for Seniors. We also have a range of rooms available for hire including a function room, which includes a fully serviced bar for hire for Parties, baby showers, engagements weddings etc.

How does your organisation operate? How does someone go about accessing your services?

The Centre is open daily from 9am -9pm and activities are organised by independent groups.  The Howrah Bowls Club, Sunshine Tennis Club, Howrah Men’s Shed & the Girl Guides  also operate independently.  There is a list of activities and contact names available at reception.

If you could give one health and wellbeing tip, what would it be?

Be healthy, physically active and socially engaged throughout your life, especially as you grow older.

How can we improve health and wellbeing in our city?

Focusing on the benefits of health and fitness for over 50’s and offering more community activities, which also encourages social engagement.
